Employee Locator

Problem:
Wisne, a tier 1 automotive supplier with several plants, needs to locate key people that are traveling from one plant to another.

Solution:

A Domino Intranet application that queries an Oracle database for mag card records in order to find out which building an employee accessed last. This was the first time we used the LSX technology to access backend databases from Domino. We wrote a stripped down version in Oracle forms to compare performance and found that the Domino application was at least three times faster. Production data indicates that, during the busiest time on Monday morning, the system serves four requests per second with sub-second response time.

Technologies:

Lotus Domino, Oracle on DEC Alpha UNIX, and Windows.

Work done on this project:

Designed the application and coded in LotusScript using the Oracle LSX to access the backend database.
